Spring?  Can’t Be.

2018.03.21

I thought it was over, Winter that is.  If not gone at least transitioning into Spring with frosty temperatures only showing up overnight.  I was out in my shirt sleeves previously, but then, on the fifteenth of March, I had to dress up in my winter clothes in order to go out in snowy, cold weather.  This has been all a bit tedious.  Makes me discontented.  I’ve had enough.  You’ll remember the saying, “If March comes in like a lion it will go out like a lamb.”  This year I think it needs amending.  “March came in like a lion and is going out like a slightly annoyed ram."

During the months of winter, life has been interesting though.  I engaged my left brain a bit to put on a course at the Cochrane Library, teaching how to use the Mac computer effectively.   On my right brain side, I’ve had my photographic art in a couple of exhibits, worked with my writing friends to create a small anthology of our work from the past year, and made great plans to create a project of monthly photographic images on my website.  Of course, this project was to start at the end of January, the first month of the year, and then carry on at the end of every month.  Then the dreaded ‘lurgy’ hit me.  To those of you who haven’t experienced the Goon Show of the 1950’s, that is the same thing as a nasty ‘cold flu’, or any other nasty flu for that matter.  By the time I recovered January was history and so was much of February.

Now I have this collection of images that I wanted to post on my website at the end of January.  It is the end of March and I thought, Why not?  I’ve got to start sometime.  So here they are—imagery that caught my attention and spoke to me of the winter we’ve had….so far.  Is it wishful thinking that because the first day of Spring, March 20th, has passed I can start imagining what Spring will be like this year?
